Se* Trafficking Suspect Jaquan Duvall Barnes Caught in Jacksonville

Jaquan Duvall Barnes, 29, from Port Royal, who escaped from the Jasper County Detention Center on June 10, has been captured in Jacksonville, Florida. He is suspected of involvement in a se* trafficking operation in Beaufort County. Barnes was apprehended by Jacksonville Sheriff’s deputies on Sunday evening, July 7, and is currently held at the John E. Goode Pre-Trial Detention Facility awaiting extradition to South Carolina.

Barnes had been detained following a March 5 arrest when he fled during a traffic stop. At the time of his arrest, he was found in a car with a minor who had been reported missing from Beaufort County. Charges against Barnes include Trafficking In Persons, Victim Under 18 Years of Age — 1st offense, and possession of marijuana.

He is a registered se* offender with prior convictions for se*ual exploitation of a minor in Beaufort County and pending charges in Fulton County, Georgia, related to pimping and trafficking.

Additionally, Barnes faces further charges linked to a se* trafficking ring in Beaufort County, where several arrests were made in June. Alban Bryan, Guy Frank Talley III, William James Youmans, and others were arrested on charges related to Trafficking In Persons, Victim Under 18 Years of Age.

Law enforcement conducted raids in Beaufort County on June 11 as part of the investigation into the trafficking operation, uncovering evidence and making multiple arrests. The victims, who were lured under false pretenses and allegedly forced into se*ual acts, include minors as young as 14 years old.

The investigation is ongoing, led by the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), although specific details about the victims have not been disclosed publicly.
