Hialeah Stabbing Incident: Man Faces Charges After Attacking Girlfriend in Front of 10-Year-Old

On Thursday, authorities named the man accused of stabbing his girlfriend in front of her child in Hialeah. A video shows the 10-year-old child waiting for help after the attack.

The stabbing, which was related to a domestic issue, happened early Wednesday morning at 4295 West 11th Place, according to Hialeah police.

Jose Ivan Mairena, 43, is facing charges of attempted murder and child abuse because the child saw what happened.

After the victim, a 35-year-old woman, called 911, the child waited outside the home for police to arrive.

The woman was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. There is no new information on her condition.

Mairena was still at the scene when police arrived and was found with what looked like a self-inflicted stab wound.

He was taken into custody and also taken to Ryder Trauma Center. As of Thursday morning, he is still in the hospital.
