More than 230 supporters attended the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County’s first Spotlight Luncheon held on Jan. 10 at the Kravis Center’s Cohen Pavilion and featuring songwriter, poet and artist Bernie Taupin.
This year is the 50th anniversary of Taupin’s song-writing partnership with Sir Elton John, which was the start of many recognized artistic accomplishments. Eighteen of Taupin’s works of art were on display, and five of them were purchased by attendees.
“For the last half-century, Bernie Taupin has been an amazing artist, musically and visually, and we are honored that he was willing to share both his insights and artwork at the Cultural Council’s first Spotlight Luncheon of 2017,” said Rena Blades, president and CEO of the Cultural Council.
Following a fascinating chat about his evolution as a lifelong, multidisciplinary artist, Blades presented Taupin with an honorary Muse Award from the Cultural Council.
The Cultural Council galleries, visitor information center and store are at 601 Lake Ave. in Lake Worth.
